- Priya Raghunatha, VP of Digital Strategy at LPL Financial, emphasized the importance of having a cohesive strategy aligned with the goals of the organization with a sense of who their target audience is and identifying factors such as the availability of resources.
- Raghunatha's approach to digital strategy includes two lenses: a more tangible and data-driven lens and a softer, more perception-driven lens.
- On the softer lenses perceptions-driven side, the most important thing is the way customers view your organization. Raghunatha suggests that businesses can measure perception-driven metrics through feedback and observing whether customers become repeat customers or if more customers are coming from competition.
- Another challenge of leading digital transformation in industries where there's a lot of regulation is getting cultural buy-in from the top. Raghunatha said to gain cultural buy-in, it helps to try different angles and sell them the solution.
- In terms of mentoring and inclusion, Raghunatha discussed how one of the things she can do to advocate for more inclusion and diversity is showing equal interest in differing opinions and giving people from underrepresented groups the opportunity to speak up.
- Raghunatha also discussed the bias that she experienced as a woman of color and how she works to break such stereotypes. She believes that the most important way to break the myth and bias is to explain what value you bring.
- For women of color on the career ladder, Raghunatha advises investing in or committing to leadership and training programs for women and people of color, networking, and building connections, and making a commitment to invest in themselves.
- Raghunatha emphasized that in addition to giving equal opportunities to women, businesses also need to uplift their female employees by starting resource groups for specific groups, inspiring them with visible representation with leadership diversity coming from people of color.
- The financial industry, like other industries, needs to balance between compliance and regulation needs with what the ideal experience might be when aiming to improve a digital experience.
- The most significant change businesses can make to advance or accelerate progress towards gender parity is by giving equal opportunities and paying women as much as men.
