Two-wheeler wholesales dip to continue in March as OEMs to clear stocks before OBD II-B norms kick in from April 1
- Leading two-wheeler companies in India, including Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), and TVS Motor Company, have reported a decline in sales as the industry gears up to comply with new OBD II-B emission standards from April 1.
- Hero MotoCorp’s domestic wholesales declined by 13.35% on a month-on-month basis, while HMSI reported a 5% decline. TVS Motor Company saw a 6% decline, and Bajaj Auto reported a decline of around 15% in its wholesales.
- From April 1, all new two-wheelers manufactured in India are required to comply with OBD II-B emission standards that require the installation of a monitoring system for real-time emission tracking. This may lead to a rise in the prices of two-wheelers as OEMs pass on the cost to customers.
