Father of Holden Monaro, VE Commodore retiring from GM after over 40 years
- Michael Simcoe, one of the most high-profile Australian executives in global automotive history, is retiring from General Motors after 42 years at the company and close to a decade as its global design boss.
- Bryan Nesbitt, the current design head for GM luxury brand Cadillac, will succeed Mr. Simcoe as the senior vice president of GM Global Design on July 1, 2025.
- Mr. Simcoe is known for his role in designing the Holden Monaro and the VE Commodore.
- Mr. Nesbitt has been with GM since 2001 and has worked on various notable designs, including the Cadillac Sollei concept.

Massive number of Holden and HSV cars being stolen using cheap eBay tool
- Vehicle crimes in Victoria, Australia have reached record levels, with over 25,000 vehicles stolen in a 12 month period.
- Late-model Holden and HSV vehicles, particularly V8 models, are being targeted for theft.
- Thieves are using a cheap device from eBay to disable car alarms and reprogram keys.
- Owners are advised to use mechanical anti-theft devices or install PIN-coded immobilisers to protect their vehicles.

Walkinshaw’s final Holden VL Commodore uncovered and on sale
- The last example of the car which put Walkinshaw on the path of being Holden’s in-house performance arm for the best part of three decades has come out of hiding, and its owners are willing to sell.
- The first model to be made by Walkinshaw was the VL Commodore-based SS Group A SV, with 750 road-going versions built – far more than the 500 needed to go racing – all finished in Panorama Blue.
- This particular car is example #750, the final version to roll off the production line in Clayton, and the family which has owned it has listed it for sale via Stag Auto.
- All road-going VL Walkinshaws were powered by Holden’s 5.0-litre V8 engine, with 180kW and 380Nm sent to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner T5 manual transmission.
