Job Description
We are seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will drive the design, development, and maintenance of our design system that ensures consistency, scalability, and efficiency across our web applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and engineers, to build tools, libraries, and frameworks that empower product teams to create seamless, high-quality, and user-centered experiences.

Your day to day is
- Taking full ownership of Zocdoc s design system, driving its evolution to meet the needs of a growing platform.
- Collaborating closely with designers to translate visual and interaction patterns into reusable, accessible components.
- Partnering with engineers to implement scalable systems that improve developer experience and product consistency.
- Ensuring accessibility standards are met and championing inclusive design practices across teams.
- Establishing best practices for design system adoption, usage, and contribution across the organization.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with cross-functional teams to align on goals and priorities.Mentoring and supporting team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
You ll be successful in this role if you have
- A passion for creating equitable, inclusive, and user-centered design systems that make a meaningful impact.
- 7+ years of meaningful experience in front-end development, with a strong focus on design systems and component libraries.
- Expertise in modern front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, and CSS-in-JS solutions (e.g., Emotion or Styled Components).
- A deep understanding of accessibility (WCAG) standards and a commitment to inclusive design.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with designers and engineers.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills, ensuring all stakeholders are informed, engaged, and aligned.
- A learning mindset and humility - treating everyone with respect and valuing diverse perspectives.
