QA Engineer - Contract- Remote

Position Overview:
World Wide Technology, Inc. has an opportunity for a talented, dedicated person to fill the role of Software Quality Engineer. This person will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality software and represent the voice of the customer during production.

Responsibilities:

• Keep the team and stakeholders informed of a holistic view of the products quality
• Elicit examples that act as or clarify acceptance criteria
• Encourage and lead collaboration and discussion around team testing improvements
• Help developers plan and build automated tests at the proper levels of the system to provide the optimal return of feedback to cost of ownership of the test suite
• Evaluate the product’s fitness for purpose through exploratory testing plans and experimentation to complement automated checks
• Work with stakeholders to triage issue priority levels
• Work with stakeholders to identify reasonable quality benchmarks based on product needs
• Work with the team to improve processes that enable the team to meet defined quality goals
• Measure how closely the product meets the quality goals set forth by the stakeholders, including risk as it applies to the quality of the product
• Carry out root-cause analysis of defects when they occur
• Partner with each team role to help ensure the team is working towards the goal of delivering a quality working product into production
• Partner with developers to write clean and maintainable test code
• Ask questions and challenge others to consider the consequences of design and architecture decisions
• The candidate may be expected to travel for client or team meetings

The following knowledge skills and attributes are required:

• Practical application of automated testing frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, Detox, Webdriver, Espresso, Capybara, Nightmare, Jest, etc.
• Comprehensive understanding of both processes and methods that are used by quality assurance experts in software development
• Team-oriented and collaborative approach, possessing strong interpersonal communication skills with an ability to give constructive feedback to team members
• Strong desire to learn and self-motivated in pursuit of new skills and understanding of software design and quality engineering
• Comfortable with different application platforms such as: websites, mobile apps, cloud technologies, and backend API
• Knowledge of and ability to apply the concept of the test pyramid to testing strategy
• Minimum of three years experience with quality assurance and testing of software applications
• Experience using tools for detecting and tracking software defects

The following knowledge skills and attributes are preferred:

• Familiarity with source control tools (Git terminal commands)
• Working knowledge of and experience with Agile methodologies
• Some experience with a programming language (C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Swift, etc.)
• Experience with ancillary technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, SQL, load testing tools, Postman, Chrome Dev Tools, Fiddler, Casper, Gremlins, Ava, JMeter, Gatling, Artillery, Funkload, Restlet Client, and others)
• Experience testing native or hybrid mobile applications on Android or iOS
• Working knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, NUnit, Espresso, etc.
• Client-facing experience through demos or feature refinement and being the voice of quality with a consultant mindset
