Job Profile: Purchase Head 300 KLPD Ethanol Plant, Sipajhar, Guwahati, Assam

Position Overview:

The Purchase Head is responsible for managing the procurement process, vendor management, cost control, and supply chain operations for a 300 KLPD ethanol plant in Sipajhar, Guwahati, Assam. The role involves strategic sourcing, negotiation, inventory management, and ensuring timely procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement & Vendor Management:
   
• Identify and develop reliable suppliers for raw materials (e.g., grains, molasses, enzymes, chemicals, and fuel).
• Negotiate contracts and ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards.
• Establish long-term relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
2. Raw Material & Inventory Management:
   
• Ensure the continuous availability of raw materials required for ethanol production.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate with production and logistics teams.
• Implement efficient inventory control measures to minimize wastage and optimize costs.
3. Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination:
   
• Oversee the transportation and timely delivery of raw materials and equipment.
• Ensure proper coordination with logistics providers, transporters, and warehouses.
• Handle import/export documentation (if applicable).
4. Cost Control & Budgeting:
   
• Develop and manage the procurement budget for the plant.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality.
• Track market trends to forecast and control raw material costs.
5. Compliance & Quality Assurance:
   
• Ensure all purchases meet regulatory and industry standards (BIS, FSSAI, Pollution Control norms, etc.).
• Work closely with the quality control team to maintain material and product standards.
• Maintain proper documentation and adhere to company policies.
6. Coordination with Internal Departments:
   
• Collaborate with production, finance, and maintenance teams for smooth plant operations.
• Align procurement strategies with production demand and financial goals.
• Address any procurement-related issues that may affect plant efficiency.
7. Team Leadership & MIS Reporting:
   
• Lead and mentor the procurement team.
• Prepare reports on procurement performance, cost analysis, and vendor evaluation.
• Implement ERP or SAP systems for procurement automation.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

• Education: Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience: 8-15 years in procurement, preferably in ethanol, distillery, or similar industries.
• Skills:
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Knowledge of ethanol production and raw material procurement.
• Ability to handle high-value contracts and supplier relationships.
• Understanding of taxation, import/export regulations, and compliance in ethanol industry.

Work Location:

• Sipajhar, Guwahati, Assam (Plant-based role, occasional travel as required).
