Job Description for the position of Section Incharge Mechanical Engineering:

Maintenance Planning & Execution

• Responsible for mechanical/ maintenance department strategy through necessary procedures, processes, plans and guidelines
• Support the development of the annual preventive maintenance plan for all equipment, machines, components, and parts
• Responsible for development of monthly preventive maintenance plans based on the annual plan and complete adherence to the planned maintenance schedule
• Lead spare part inventory planning based on historical data as well as results of periodic health assessment of machines, equipment, components, and parts
• Support the creation of department level manpower plans and manpower budgets by assessing the manpower requirement for ones own section. Take ownership for workload allocation and daily work management within ones own section. Collaborate with Unit HR & IR department to support in meeting the manpower needs through interview, selection, screening, sourcing etc.

Technical Troubleshooting

• Oversee the day to day provision of breakdown engineering and maintenance services to operations department in a timely and cost-efficient manner
• Analyze instances of repeated breakdowns or failures in order to identify the root cause and suggest mitigation measures by collaborating with internal and external centers of excellence
• Plan and oversee periodic health assessments for equipment, spare parts, components and machines in order to identify and diagnose potential faults and breakdowns, with the objective of increasing longevity and mean time between failure and reducing breakdown time.
• Ensure that all service requests from operations department are proactively handled with a satisfactory level of quality and timeliness

Utilities & Auxiliaries Maintenance

• Responsible for ensuring continuous supply/running without any failure/breakdown of utilities like RO/ MEE, ETP/WTT, Air Compressor, Domestic raw water,RO process water, Drinking water, Propane gas, Bio gas & ensuring availability of Material handling equipments and Fire hydrant / sprinkler systems in working condition for manufacturing operations within the specific process parameters in order to ensure the desired ambient conditions are created for optimum production efficiency
• Regularly monitor the consumption of power and air and water utilities and identify major variances with the stipulated levels, along with the root cause.
• Regularly monitor the of running parameters of equipment with respect to maintenance activity or OEM recommended PM schedule. Ensure about quality work/job of all mechanical utilities.
• Analyze all type of breakdown with RCA.
• Responsible for planning and executing the preventive maintenance schedule for all utilities and common areas to minimize breakdowns and faults and increase longevity. Monitor the supply parameters to pre-empt potential faults and failures.

Maintenance Excellence

• Drive operational/ excellence initiatives such as TPM, Kaizen, TQM, Quality Circles etc. by working closely with the central manufacturing excellence cell. Periodically provide manufacturing excellence training and awareness sessions to shop floor employees. Build operator / Fitters shop floor vigilance to support predictive maintenance.
• Work closely with the head of the department to identify and implement best practices from similar textile organizations / other similar units within Vardhman
• Collaborate with OEMs and vendors to identify opportunities for improvement in operational efficiencies, equipment and parts longevity, reduction in maintenance cost, development of low-cost indigenous spares and production cost optimization
• Ensure compliance to established SOPs by regularly reviewing the number and nature of non- compliances.
• Execute initiatives for cost optimization through reduction in utilities consumption and wastage, reduced cost of utilities generation, reduction in power consumption, reduction in breakdowns and unscheduled maintenance, optimization of manpower through restructuring and work load reallocation and reduction in maintenance cost

Performance Management & Team Development

• Responsible for goal setting, periodic performance review, performance appraisal and performance feedback of all supervisory, individual contributor and shop floor employees in the engineering section
• Oversee development of supervisory and individual contributor roles in the engineering department
• Ensure high workmen productivity through motivation and regular engagement. Responsible for serving as the first point of contact for all shop floor grievances and discipline management.
• Collaborate with Unit HR & IR department to proactively implement initiatives for addressing absenteeism and attrition on the shop floor

Additional Responsibility Areas

• Procurement Provide technical support in procurement of equipment, spare parts, components, auxiliaries and other parts by technically evaluating bids to ensure conformance to specifications
• Management Reporting Oversee the preparation and timely sharing of reports highlighting conformance to EHS standards, utilities and power consumption as per requirement, breakdown, mean time between failure, maintenance cost and other ad-hoc reports.

Liaison & Compliance Management

• Support the head of the department in executing liaison and compliance of PESO Related documents/ Licences, bore-wells (HPGWA) related documents availability of accurate data and responding to requests from statutory or government agencies. To update the status of compliances manager & AHMS. Conduct all internal/ third party testing of concern utility equipment.

Key Knowledge Areas & Skills

• Strong understanding and experience in providing engineering services in relevant domain
• Good knowledge of sustainable practice adoption and engineering excellence principles
• Strong knowledge and exposure to relevant concepts / equipment / machines / regulations
• Mechanical Maintenance of ETP/WTT Plant, MEE Plant, Water systems, Water Treatment systems / RO Plants, Waste water systems, Drinking water systems/Water coolers, Compressed air system, Bio gas plant, Diesel engines/DG set and cooling towers, Fire hydrant / sprinkler systems, MHEs and Propane Storage yard.
• Project work/Job related to Mechanical Utilities.
