General Manager-Operations & Maintenance (Power Plant)

Role & responsibilities

The General Manager (Operations & Maintenance) will support the Head Power Plant with overseeing the daily operations, maintenance activities and reporting of the Captive Power Plant (PP) unit.

The individual must ensure smooth plant operations and must have a deep understanding of power plant operations and maintenance.

Plant Operations

• To assist Power Plant Head in the management of the entire power plant operations and maintenance activities to ensure optimal efficiency, productivity, and profitability
• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Monitor plant performance and make recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability
• Manage and lead a team of managers, engineers, technicians, and operators to ensure all activities are performed safely and effectivel
• Develop and implement systems and processes to monitor, record and control the consumption of energy and other resources
• Ensure that the team of engineers and technicians are trained and equipped to carry out their duties effectively
• Conduct daily visits across the plant to observe, validate, and rectify process deviances and abnormalities.

Plant Maintenance

• Oversee development and implementation of maintenance schedule for all the work areas and equipment of the power plant to ensure minimum breakdown
• Oversee development, implementation, and execution of all shutdown activities for all the work areas and equipment of the power plant
• Work closely with the Operation Excellence team as well as the PM-CBM team to ensure that all the maintenance activities are being completed as per SOPs and on time to reduce downtime and breakdown events.
• General Management
• Liaise with relevant departments to plan and manage budgets for the power plant operations and maintenance activities, as well as for optimal coordination of activities and effective communication across the organization
• Oversee the implementation of periodic skills and knowledge development training programs across the power plant team and provide relevant support as required
• Maintain accurate records of plant operations and maintenance activities, including maintenance schedules, equipment performance, and other relevant data.
• Support the Head Power Plant in reporting and presenting the same data sets at the regular DRM, CRM, MAT and SCM events.
• Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that all employees are trained in safety protocols and that all equipment is properly maintained.

Preferred candidate profile

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelors in mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from a reputable institution.
• Masters degree in similar field preferred

Desired Experience

• 15+ years of experience in power plant operations and maintenance,
• 05+ years of leadership role, preferably in power plant

Functional Skills

• Deep understanding of power plant operations and maintenance, including knowledge of boilers, turbines, generators, and other related equipment
• Proven track record of successful plant management and operational excellence
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Professional certification in power plant operations and maintenance
