About the Opportunity
As part of this growth, the company is looking for a talented and ambitious Head of Engineering to join their team. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with architectural design and development experience, who is looking to grow into a CTO position in the future. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their engineering team while collaborating closely with leadership on a company-wide technology strategy.

In this role, you will get to:
● Shape Technical Strategy & Architect Solutions - Define and own the technical strategy and architecture of the The company platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives and a future-proof system architecture focused on performance, security, scalability, and resilience.
● Lead with Technical Expertise & Drive Collaboration - Represent the Technology team at the leadership level, collaborating with the CEO and Head of Product, and other leaders to craft technology strategies aligned with their phase of growth. Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Product, Customer Success, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and external partners.
● Lead Innovation with AI & Emerging Technologies -
Architect and drive the integration of AI powered solutions, machine learning, and other emerging technologies to enhance platform capabilities and value for customers, while fostering a culture of experimentation and innovation within the team.
● Drive Operational Excellence - Lead the technical operations strategy, managing people, infrastructure, processes, and tools to optimize efficiency, reduce friction, and deliver top-tier platform performance. Oversee platform support, ensuring ongoing improvements through monitoring and automation.
● Scale Systems & Implement Best Practices - Identify and implement best practices, processes, and methodologies that enable the engineering team and platform to scale effectively for an enterprise customer base. Establish a scalable, event-driven architecture that balances rapid development with long-term stability.
● Ensure Platform Security & Optimize Performance - Maintain platform stability, security, and performance by optimizing cloud infrastructure (AWS) and managing cloud costs. Lead initiatives to maintain a secure coding environment and proactively mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
● Mentor & Build a High-Performance Engineering Team - Lead, mentor, and uplift a diverse team of onshore and offshore engineers, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture. Drive career development by providing clear direction, skill-building opportunities, and a supportive work environment.
● Enhance Transparency Through Documentation - Develop and refine comprehensive technical documentation that promotes transparency and collaboration across teams. Ensure key processes, architectures, and decisions are well-documented to streamline knowledge sharing and improve operational efficiency.

Looking for people who have:
● 10+ years industry experience with a minimum 3 years leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced, growth-oriented start-up environments.
● Expertise in AWS cloud environments, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
● Proven experience scaling SaaS/PaaS platforms, multi-tenancy, and application monitoring (e.g., observability, security, logging).
● Hands-on experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform), containerization (e.g., Docker), and container management (e.g., Kubernetes).
● Proven ability to design solutions, assess technical challenges, and implement effective architectural designs.
● A logical, data-driven problem solver with experience in API integrations and serverless architectures.
● Strategic thinking, with the ability to align technology direction with broader company goals.
● Deep knowledge of secure coding practices, platform security, and ensuring system availability and resilience.
● Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally, managing offshore teams and representing technology at a leadership level.
● Experience with the MEAN stack a bonus
● Experience in cyber security, risk management, crisis management or resilience and advantage.
