Role & responsibilities

Guest Service:

  1. Welcome guests warmly and assist with seating arrangements.
  2. Present menus, explain specials, and answer questions regarding food and beverages.
  3. Take food and beverage orders accurately and convey them promptly to the kitchen or bar.
  4. Serve food and drinks in a courteous and efficient manner.

Preparation and Setup:

  1. Set up dining tables with proper tableware, linens, and decorations.
  2. Ensure readiness of the service area before the dining shift begins.
  3. Restock supplies like cutlery, glassware, and napkins during service.

Cleanliness and Hygiene:

  1. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of tables, dining areas, and service stations.
  2. Follow hygiene and food safety protocols as per hotel standards.
  3. Clear used plates, glasses, and utensils, and reset tables for new guests.

Coordination and Support:

  1. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely order delivery.
  2. Assist in resolving guest complaints or escalate to supervisors if needed.
  3. Support teammates during busy service hours.

Additional Duties:

  1. Upsell menu items by recommending chef specials, beverages, or desserts.
  2. Handle billing and payment procedures accurately.
  3. Participate in daily briefings, training sessions, or team meetings as required.
  4. Adhere to the hotel's service standards, dress code, and grooming policies.


Preferred candidate profile

  1. Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • A degree or certification in Hospitality Management or Food and Beverage Service is preferred but not mandatory.
  2. Work Experience:
    • Prior experience as a steward, waiter, or service associate in a hotel, restaurant, or banquet setting.
    • Freshers with hospitality training and the right attitude may also be considered.

Skills and Attributes

  1. Customer Service Skills:
    • Ability to engage with guests professionally and courteously.
    • Strong communication skills in English and Hindi; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
  2. Teamwork and Collaboration:
    • Capability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
    • Willingness to support colleagues during peak times.
  3. Attention to Detail:
    • Ability to maintain high standards in table settings, food presentation, and guest service.
  4. Upselling Ability:
    • Skill in suggesting menu items or beverages to enhance guest experience and increase revenue.

Personal Attributes

  1. Professional Appearance:
    • Well-groomed and presentable, adhering to the hotels grooming standards.
  2. Physical Stamina:
    • Ability to stand, move, and carry light to moderate weights for extended periods.
  3. Adaptability:
    • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Additional Preferences

  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP training is a plus).
  • Enthusiasm for hospitality and a positive attitude toward guest satisfaction.
