Overview
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) Music Teacher (Western) for the academic year 2025-26 plays a crucial role in fostering a love for music among young learners. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with the PYP framework.
- Create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Conduct individual and group music instruction, emphasizing vocal, instrumental, and rhythm skills.
- Foster an appreciation for various music genres and cultural traditions among students.
- Organize and direct student performances, including concerts and recitals.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers across subjects to integrate music into other areas of the curriculum.
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
- Utilize technology and multimedia resources to enhance music instruction.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and achievements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices in music education.
- Develop and manage classroom resources, including instruments and teaching materials.
- Facilitate opportunities for students to explore various musical experiences outside the classroom.
- Encourage students social and emotional development through collaborative music activities.
- Be an active member of the school community and participate in school events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Professional teaching certification in music education (PYP preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a primary or international school setting.
- Strong understanding of the IB PYP curriculum and its principles.
- Experience in teaching diverse student populations.
- Proficient in playing various musical instruments and vocal training.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development in music education.
- Experience with technology integration in the classroom.
- Knowledge of international music styles and their cultural significance.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and parents.
- Ability to adapt lessons and teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
