Senior Software Engineer

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MOST IMPORTANT TO GET THE JOB DONE)

Project Delivery (20%)

• Become acclimated to systems and architecture and eventually owning systems.
• Provide input on solution technical requirements (architecture, integration, and performance)
• Ensure hardware and environments (development, testing, staging and production) are in place when required.
• Manage promotion of code amongst environments.
• Perform and review system configuration

Development (50%)

• Develop of custom solutions based on requirements using industry standards.
• Liaise with partners for external development.
• Partner with resources to install software components.
• Partner with technical resources and infrastructure Lead to define security requirements and protocols.

Production Support (20%)

• Provide post go-live support for the PTC configuration and customizations (i.e., reports and workflows)
• After implementation, serve as first point of contact for all technical issues (e.g., network, WAN and LAN)
• Provide backup infrastructure support

IT Policies/SOX compliance (10%)

• Seek out improvements to current IT processes to streamline operations while complying with SOX guidelines.
• Support annual audit requirements by providing example change control information, user access, etc.
• Ensure that all IT initiatives support SOX compliance protocols.

TOP 3 FUNCTIONS

• Development of custom solutions based on requirements using industry standards / Liaise with partners for external development
• Manage promotion of code amongst environments. Assist with system configuration (minimally reviewing the configuration design and unit test prior to formal QA). Coordinate all internal development and unit testing of reports, interfaces and automated conversions. Partner with technical resources to install the software components.
• Manage and handle any Database related performance or system issues via codes or infrastructure changes needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR JOB PERFORMANCE)

• 5-8 years of hands-on experience in Oracle PL/SQL development.
• Proficient in designing and optimizing stored procedures, views, and materialized views.
• Strong knowledge of database indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning techniques.
• Experience in working with large datasets and integrating data from multiple tables.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle SQL Plus (CLI).
• Familiarity with Oracle Database 19c/21c.
• Exposure to work in UNIX environment.
• Writing and modifying Shell Scripts as per the requirement.
• Experience in Retail and Order Management is Plus.
• Knowledge of Oracle Apex is a Plus.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data requirements and build database solutions.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues efficiently.
• Knowledge of cloud database platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS) is an added advantage.
• Oracle Certification (e.g., Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate or higher) is a plus.
• Knowledge of IT networks and Oracle databases
• Scripting capabilities to execute a query for integration purposes.
• Code management and performance review
• Exemplary communication skills (written, documentation).

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5yrs of Development experience into Oracle PL/SQL.
• Unix with Shell scripting experience is preferred.
