Cloud Engineer

Job Description:

As a Cloud Engineer, you will manage and secure Surakshas cloud infrastructure with a primary focus on Azure. Your role will encompass server deployment, intrusion detection, vulnerability management, penetration testing, and security audits, along with database operations (MS SQL and PostgreSQL). You will design robust, secure, and cost-effective solutions while ensuring business continuity through efficient backup and disaster recovery strategies.

Role & responsibilities

Azure Cloud Management:

• Configure, manage, and maintain Azure cloud resources such as virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, and firewalls.
• Optimize server sizing and scaling to ensure cost-efficiency and high performance.
• Monitor Azure usage, analyze costs, and implement cost-saving strategies.

Database Operations:

• Administer MS SQL and PostgreSQL databases, including installation, configuration, backups, and performance tuning.
• Implement and maintain database security measures such as encryption, user access controls, and patch management.
• Conduct regular database performance monitoring and troubleshoot issues.

Cloud Security and Intrusion Detection:

• Deploy and monitor intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to safeguard cloud resources.
• Configure Azure Sentinel for proactive threat detection, log analysis, and incident response.
• Conduct regular penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary remediation's.
• Perform routine security audits to assess compliance with security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA) and industry best practices.
• Manage and secure identity and access through Azure Active Directory, including role-based access control (RBAC), multifactor authentication (MFA), and conditional access policies.

Backup and Disaster Recovery:

• Design and implement Azure Backup and Recovery Services to secure business-critical data.
• Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal downtime in the event of system failures or attacks.

Monitoring and Performance Management:

• Use Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and database monitoring tools to track system health and performance.
• Set up alerting mechanisms to detect anomalies and respond to incidents promptly.
• Optimize cloud and database configurations to maximize uptime and performance.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code:

• Automate deployment, configuration, and management tasks using Azure CLI, PowerShell, or Terraform.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline application and infrastructure updates.

Collaboration and Documentation:

• Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure secure and seamless integration of cloud services with on-premises systems and applications.
• Document configurations, security policies, processes, and troubleshooting guides for team use and audits.
