Role & responsibilities


1. Leadership and Team Management

  • Supervise and manage the kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants.

2. Menu Planning and Development

  • Ensure all dishes maintain high standards of presentation and taste.

3. Food Quality and Consistency

  • Ensure every dish meets the restaurant’s quality standards in taste, presentation, and portion size.
  • Conduct regular tasting sessions to maintain consistency across all meals.
  • Implement feedback from guests to improve the menu and food quality.

4. Kitchen Operations Management

  • Oversee daily kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Manage kitchen workflow to ensure efficient and timely service.
  • Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning and arrange maintenance as needed.

5. Cost Control and Budgeting

  • Manage the kitchen budget, including ingredient sourcing, labor costs, and utilities.
  • Control food wastage by monitoring inventory and portion sizes.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to procure high-quality ingredients at competitive prices.

6. Hygiene and Safety Compliance

  • Ensure the kitchen complies with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Train staff on proper food handling, storage, and kitchen safety protocols.

7. Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure sufficient stock of ingredients and supplies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of inventory usage and orders.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to restock items as needed.

8. Event and Catering Coordination

  • Plan menus and logistics for special events, banquets, and catering services.
  • Work closely with event managers to meet guest expectations.
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of high-quality food for events.

9. Financial Performance

  • Analyze sales and cost reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop strategies to optimize kitchen operations and increase profitability.
  • Introduce cost-effective methods without compromising on quality.

10. Customer Engagement and Feedback

  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to understand guest preferences and feedback.
  • Occasionally interact with guests to explain dishes or special menu items.
  • Address complaints related to food quality or service promptly and professionally.

11. Innovation and Trends

  • Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate them into the menu.
  • Experiment with new techniques, ingredients, and presentations.
  • Foster creativity in the team to develop unique and memorable dishes.
