Job Description

SP Global Commodity Insights are seeking a Director of Product Management responsible for steering the strategy and development of client facing data delivery platforms from conception to market success.
This crucial role (which is a blend of technology and business experience) leads an experienced team of product managers/owners focusing on delivery of insights, content and data via technologies such as GenAI solutions, Cloud Partners (Snowflake, Amazon etc.), Channel Partners, Direct APIs, Python SDKs, Microsoft Connectors and other data delivery technologies.
This leader will bring strategic vision and cross-functional collaboration to empower SP Global to stay competitive, adapt to changing market conditions and focus on delivering customer value.
This includes engaging with internal and external customers to understand needs/use cases/workflow, articulate and prioritize portfolio delivery and track metrics to assess product s success post launch. This role will focus on ways to develop and integrate AI into relevant product features and commercial applications.
This role will also represent division requirements from Commodity Insights into the larger SP Global Enterprise Data Organization and liase on execution and customer delivery.
A core responsibility will be to inspire, mentor, engage and coach ~7 high-potential product managers and product owners (direct reports) through career development .
 
The Team:
As part of Digital Platforms at SP Global Commodity Insights, you join a team of passionate colleagues whose mission is to delight our customers and ensure delivery of insights per user preference. We are a global, collaborative team that prioritizes open communication mutual respect and excellence in all we do. You drive strategic planning and execution of Machine-to-Machine interaction, GenAI products, APIs for raw data delivery, streaming ability for real time (WebSocket), Cloud Delivery like Snowflake, AWS Data Exchange, and Databricks Delta share, in addition to integrated feeds to Microsoft Products like Office 365 (Copilot) connectors, Excel (Add-Ins) and Power BI.

Responsibilities:
  • Interact with clients and distribution partners to understand, define, iterate and evolve data delivery roadmaps and requirements as the commodity markets evolve
  • Drive the organisational strategy in the data feeds space based on industry trends and VoC, working closely with Commercial and Technology for assessing the commercial and technical feasibility of initiatives
  • Marshal approved product development projects through the definition, development, testing, and pre-launch phases
  • Manage and maintain roadmaps across the portfolio, communicating it with Commercial and Technology stakeholders as and when necessary
  • Manage and direct the team around customer requirements into features, helping negotiate the implementation of product features with development teams while maintaining the overall vision and technical integrity of the product
  • Develop and deliver improvements for existing Machine to Machine product offerings and execute these by navigating change internally through the organization
  • Refer to competitor research and build contacts in internally and the industry to provide market intelligence and to benchmark products
  • Insist on a consistent, scalable and sustainable structures across all delivery mediums preventing silo developments for individual downstream consumers
  • Build a broad and effective internal network and engage stakeholders to facilitate development and delivery of products
  • Ensure successful product launch by documenting new product features and enhancements, supporting the development of marketing content, and conducting internal training sessions
  • Ensure progress transparency and health reporting to peers and senior leadership
  • Review product enhancements demos after each iteration informing the progress to the team s deliverables
  • Help development teams understand how they are contributing to the overall project and portfolio vision
  • Work closely with our Commercial partners to understand the client needs and workflows, our competition, and be able to articulate the value proposition of our products internally and externally
  • Plan and coordinate go-to-market activities with Marketing partners for products or product enhancements being launched.
  • Conduct ongoing, in-depth research and analysis of each assigned product to gain an understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, and competitive advantages of each product
  • Conduct client calls to demonstrate how our products meet client workflow needs and address client pain points
  • Drive enablement and awareness of new enhancements and offerings across Client Service, Product, and Commercial teams.
Qualifications:

You thrive on ownership and accountability. Delivery of complex projects involving product rollouts, tangible outcomes and measurable success are common in your past. You demonstrate experience of delivering successfully on scope, in time, and on budget.
Core qualifications:
  • 5+ years product experience at global FinTech, cloud or comparable data delivery or consumption company with client exposure
  • Working knowledge of the energy and commodities industry and the resulting client data expectations and requirements is critical
  • Familiarity with GenAI components, RESTful APIs, Python, along with other data feed technologies like Websocket, FTP, and even cloud distribution platforms like Snowflake, Databricks Delta, and AWS Data Exchange.
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in technical or science major
  • Experience with both Agile and Lean methodologies
Key qualifications:
  • Strong experience in bringing products to market, including feasibility assessment and testing, negotiating development through a large, highly matrixed organisation and delivering commercial results
  • Advanced project management and PMO skill-set, able to move seamlessly between strategic and operational takes and balance complex and demanding work streams
  • Customer-first mind-set with ability to understand and act on customer insight, generate new product and service offerings ideas based on customer interactions
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to link product design and features to strategic objectives while using data and metrics to substantiate assumptions and recommendations
  • Diplomacy and tenacity when managing and communicating with stakeholders at all levels of business alongside a firm ability to assume positive intent
  • Ability to analyse and scrutinize data using statistical techniques and providing reports/ facilitating decision-making.
  • Strategic approach to problem resolution as well as the ability to develop and communicate a sound plan
  • Experience in use of AI with structured and unstructured datasets
  • Experience in front office trade analysis/trade support/risk management capacity in global commodity trading organization OR experience at a commodities front office decision support/market data/analytics vendor is a bonus.
