Role & responsibilities

RESEARCH & COMPETITOR MARKET INTELLIGENCE ​

• Complete ongoing analysis and insights into LS portfolio outlining opportunities in pricing, product mix, product formats, margin gains, and overall white space quick-wins. ​
• Complete ongoing analysis and insights into LS regional competitor product range (and where relevant,) private label offerings. Notable retailers/brands are Carrefour, Boots, Life Pharma, White Pharma, Faces, Sephora, Kiko, Miniso, ​
• Conduct trade fair visits to source potential new supplier partners.​
• Collaborate with the respective category buyers to develop and present commercially sound business cases for new private label launches considering margins, price positioning, projected stock cover, and transparent rationalization for incremental growth within the respective category.

SUPPLIER IDENTIFICATION, EVALUATION, AND SELECTION ​

• Plug LS business opportunities with product supplier/s. Feasibility-check potential suppliers in terms of cost, commercial terms, MOQs, lead-times, good manufacturing practices, service levels, and financial stability clearly mapping potential service bottlenecks, risks, and PL opportunities. ​
• Build, establish, and nurture supplier relationships allowing PL to gain a competitive edge in the marketplace; in new formula technologies, packaging concepts (and print processes), novel / stand-out ingredients, and innovative production processes. ​
• Create, tender (and when necessary) adjust technical project briefs to ensure delivery of commercial-sound NPD programs - tentative of the supplier type e.g., Component vs. Part-service vs. full-service suppliers. ​
• Audit and review the operational processes and suitability of new suppliers, ensuring alignment to LSs requirements of cost, quality, regulatory, logistical, and shipping protocols.​
• Support new suppliers for the completion of documentation for the onboarding process​

NEW PRODUCT CONCEPT/DESIGN MANAGEMENT ​

• Capture and annotate (on internal briefs) core selling features of benchmark products considering formulae type, pack style, and decoration, pack content, product claims, in-store merchandising, and pricing.​
•  Tender product concepts with a min of 2 suppliers, review with category buyer, and private label manager.​
•  With graphic design, facilitate packaging design concepts/visuals to review with private label manager and category buyer before market/consumer testing. ​
•  Facilitate the creation of product mock-ups with the supplier and create bronze, silver, and gold(pre-production) samples. ​
