Technical Manager - Battery Energy Storage System

Job Summary

The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technical Manager will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of battery energy storage solutions for renewable energy integration. This role involves overseeing technical operations, project execution, and performance optimization while ensuring regulatory compliance and industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in battery storage technologies, power electronics, and energy systems to drive innovation and efficiency in energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Development

• Lead the design, specification, and integration of BESS solutions for renewable energy and

grid applications.

• Evaluate and select battery technologies for various applications, ensuring optimal system design and performance.
• Develop technical specifications and ensure seamless integration of BESS into energy projects.

2. Project Management

• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of BESS projects.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure project completion within timelines and budget.
• Manage technical documentation and ensure best practices in execution.

3. Technical Expertise & System Optimization

• Monitor and analyze BESS performance, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to BESS components and optimize system performance.
• Implement predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize asset reliability.

4. Regulatory Compliance & Safety Standards

• Ensure all BESS designs, implementations, and operations comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to address potential technical challenges.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, policies, and regulations in energy storage.

5. Stakeholder Coordination & Training

• Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to meet project specifications and deliver optimal BESS solutions.
• Provide technical training and support to customers and internal teams to enhance operational understanding.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for BESS-related queries and technical guidance.

Requirements:

Qualification : Bachelor's / Masters degree in Electrical Engineering/ Energy Systems,/Renewable Energy or a related field.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of battery storage technologies (Li-ion, flow batteries, etc.), power electronics, and grid integration.
• Proficiency in simulation tools and design software for energy storage systems.
• Hands-on experience with BESS installation, commissioning, and performance optimization.
• Understanding of renewable energy systems, microgrids, and hybrid energy storage applications.

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in energy storage, power systems, or related technical roles.
• Proven track record of leading BESS projects from design to implementation.
