Senior Consultant and Head- Lab Medicine

Role & responsibilities

LABORATORY HEAD is authorized and/or responsible to-

1. Looking after the overall operations of the lab.

2. Provide effective leadership, budget planning and financial management in line with lab requirements.

3. Provide effective coordination and communication with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies, appropriate administrative officials, the healthcare community, patient/visitors and service providers to provide medical laboratory services that meet the needs and requirements of the users;

4. Ensuring adequate numbers of staff with the required education, training and competence to: provide medical lab services that meet the needs and requirements of the users.

5. Defining lab Quality Policy and Objectives and ensuring its implementation in all lab departments.

6. Implementing a safe lab environment in compliance with good practice and applicable requirements,

7 Supporting various lab departments as a contributing member for the facilities served, if applicable and appropriate.

8. Ensuring provision for clinical advice to patients /visitors with respect to the choice of examinations, use of the service and interpretation of examination results.

9 Selection and monitoring of lab suppliers.

10. Selection, monitoring and performance evaluation of referral labs w.r. to service quality.

11. Organizing professional development programs for lab staff and providing opportunities to participate in-scientific and other activities of professional lab organizations.

12. Monitoring all work performed in the lab to ensure that clinically relevant information is being generated.

13. Addressing any complaints, requests or suggestions from lab staff and / or users of lab services.

14. Design and implement a contingency plan to ensure that essential services are available during emergency situations or other conditions when laboratory services are limited or unavailable.

Preferred candidate profile

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: MD(HISTOPATHOLOGY) FROM A REPUTED INSTITUTE

EXPERIENCE : 20+ years in a reputed hospital lab of not less than 200 beds with NABL and NABH accreditation
