Head ESG and Farmtech

Position Summary: Synthite Industries Pvt Ltd is seeking a senior level candidate to drive its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and Farmtech operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture or related fields like agricultural supply chain, with extensive experience in farming activities, sustainability, organic farming, carbon emission control, carbon footprint analysis, cost monitoring, evaluating project impacts, implementation of certification in farm-level audits, sustainability cultivation, and proficiency in audits like FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment) and UEBT (Union for Ethical Bio-Trade). Additionally, knowledge of supply chain management in the context of agricultural operations would be desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with Synthite Industries' Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals and industry standards.
• Monitor and control costs associated with sustainability projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and budget adherence.
• Experience in collaborating with entities to get improved starting material like better seeds, agro chemicals and fertlizers.
• Background in integrating technology into farm management
• Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of sustainability initiatives through data analysis, KPIs, and stakeholder feedback including digitization and monitoring.
• Lead the implementation and management of certification programs in farm-level audits and sustainable cultivation practices, ensuring compliance with standards such as FSA and UEBT.
• Conduct carbon footprint assessments, life cycle analyses, and environmental impact assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with agricultural operations teams to integrate sustainable practices, including soil health management, water conservation, biodiversity preservation, and sustainable supply chain management.
• Ensure compliance with sustainability standards, environmental regulations, and organic farming practices through regular audits and inspections.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory developments in sustainable agriculture and supply chain sustainability, providing strategic guidance to senior management.
• Engage with external stakeholders such as government agencies, certification bodies, suppliers, and industry associations to advocate for sustainable farming practices and maintain certifications.
• Develop training programs and provide guidance to internal teams on sustainability practices, compliance requirements, and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree (MSc) in Agriculture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or related field. Alternatively, Bachelor’s degree (BTech) in Agricultural Engineering or Chemical Engineering with relevant experience.
• Minimum of 8-15 years of progressive experience in sustainability roles within the agriculture sector, focusing on organic farming, carbon emission control, agricultural operations, and supply chain management.
• Proven track record of successfully managing sustainability projects, monitoring costs, evaluating project impacts, and implementing certification programs.
• Experience in conducting farm-level audits for sustainability practices, including knowledge of audits like FSA and UEBT.
• Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, carbon footprint analysis methodologies, and environmental impact assessments.
• Familiarity with supply chain management principles and their application in the context of sustainability.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Certification in sustainability (e.g., LEED, CSR, GRI) or relevant professional affiliations is preferred.
