Buyer (Supply chain Management) HSE

Job Title: Buyer - HSE

Job Purpose:

The HSE Buyer is responsible for procuring health, safety, and environmental products and services for the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting a safe working environment. This includes sourcing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), safety systems, environmental management tools, and other relevant safety and environmental supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement of Safety Equipment & Supplies:
• Source, evaluate, and purchase health, safety, and environmental products, including personal protective equipment (PPE), safety signage, first aid kits, fire safety equipment, and environmental monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with HSE managers to determine specific safety needs across various departments.
2. Vendor Management:
• Identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors of safety equipment, chemicals, and environmental products.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Conduct regular supplier evaluations and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:
• Ensure that all purchased safety equipment and environmental products meet local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
• Keep up to date with changes in HSE legislation and industry best practices to ensure procurement aligns with legal and safety requirements.
4. Inventory Management:
• Maintain accurate records of safety equipment inventory.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure that adequate supplies are available for daily operations.
• Coordinate with HSE teams to determine future product needs based on operational safety requirements.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with HSE officers and department heads to understand specific safety requirements.
• Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure seamless purchasing processes.
• Assist in training staff on the proper use of newly acquired safety products.
6. Cost Control & Budgeting:
• Develop and manage budgets for HSE-related purchases.
• Identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining high standards of safety and environmental compliance.
• Review and approve purchase orders related to HSE procurement.
7. Risk Management:
• Help assess risks related to potential hazards in the workplace and provide recommendations for suitable safety measures.
• Participate in risk assessments and audits to identify gaps in safety equipment and products.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: A degree or diploma in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Certification in HSE management is a plus.
• Experience: Experience in procurement, particularly in the HSE or manufacturing industries, is highly desirable.
• Knowledge: Understanding of HSE regulations, environmental laws, and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
• Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to evaluate and source safety and environmental products.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement software.

Working Conditions:

• This role may involve regular interactions with on-site staff, suppliers, and HSE teams.
• Some travel may be required for site assessments or vendor visits.
