Job Description :

Key Responsibilities :

Database Management and Optimization :

- Execute SQL commands (DDL and DML) to manage, update, and maintain database structures and data.

- Design and implement database schemas and data models to support evolving business requirements.

- Perform logical and physical backups to safeguard data integrity and ensure disaster recovery readiness.

- Monitor and manage database performance, diagnosing and resolving bottlenecks through query optimization and indexing strategies.

Database Security and User Management :

- Ensure robust security measures, including access control, encryption, and data masking, to protect sensitive information.

- Manage database user roles, permissions, and authentication mechanisms.

Operations and Maintenance :

- Schedule and maintain automated database jobs and tasks, ensuring smooth operations and timely reporting.

- Conduct health checks, capacity planning, and system audits to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.

Collaboration and Troubleshooting :

- Collaborate with application developers and IT teams to resolve database-related issues and support new feature implementations.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, including deadlocks, concurrency problems, and failed processes.

Skill Development and Continuous Improvement :

- Develop expertise in Linux command-line operations and scripting for database management tasks.

- Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in database management, including cloud databases and automation tools.

Requirements Technical Skills :

- Proficiency in SQL and in-depth knowledge of database concepts (e.g, relational models, indexing, normalization).

- Strong understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.

- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra is a plus.

- Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning tools (e.g, SolarWinds, pgAdmin, SQL Profiler).

- Hands-on experience with scripting languages like Python, Shell scripting, or Perl for automation tasks.

- Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems for database administration and operations.

- Familiarity with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud BigQuery.

Soft Skills :

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications Education :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (e.g, B.E/B.Tech (CS/IT), MBA, MCA, M.Sc (CS/IT)).

Additional Knowledge :

- Hands-on experience with containerized environments like Docker or orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated database deployment and integration.

- Certifications in databases (Oracle Database Administrator, Microsoft SQL Server DBA, etc.), Linux, or cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Associate, etc.
