Newt Global - Senior PostgreSQL Engineer - Database Design & Implementation (6-10 yrs)

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop new features and functionalities for the PostgreSQL database system.

- Investigate and fix bugs, including security vulnerabilities and performance issues.

- Contribute to Long-Term Support (LTS) releases and provide critical code fixes.

- Optimize query performance and indexing strategies.

- Develop and maintain PostgreSQL extensions and modules.

- Contribute to the development of Foreign Data Wrappers.

- Design and develop robust and scalable database systems based on organizational requirements.

- Define and implement database architectures, including data modeling, schema design, and data replication strategies.

- Design and implement robust storage and network architectures for database systems.

- Integrate monitoring and alerting solutions for centralized or decentralized database support.

- Ensure effective data recovery processes are in place and regularly tested.

- Automate database management tasks using scripting and automation tools.

- Lead and manage database-related projects from initiation to completion.

- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met and deadlines are achieved.

- Stay updated with the latest advancements in database technologies, including PostgreSQL, and industry best practices.

Qualifications :

- Experience: 6+ years of experience in PostgreSQL development and administration.

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Skills :

- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals, including core code, extensions, and internals.

- Strong understanding of database design principles, including normalization, data modeling, and performance tuning.

- Expert-level SQL skills, including writing complex queries, optimizing queries, and understanding query execution plans.

- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems.

- Proficiency in scripting languages (e., Python, Shell) for automation and administration tasks.

- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
