Job Description
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the bar, ensuring efficient workflows and a high level of service.
- Ensure that the bar operates in compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and alcohol laws.
- Develop and implement processes for inventory control, cost management, and quality assurance.
- Manage the bars budget, including cost of goods sold (COGS), labour costs, and profit margins.
- Ensure the bar is well-stocked with beverages, glassware, and supplies, ordering as needed.
- Collaborate with the kitchen or catering team to ensure smooth coordination of food and drink service.
- Team Leadership:
- Hire, train, and supervise bar staff, including bartenders, servers, and support staff.
- Provide ongoing training to staff on customer service, cocktail preparation, and safety protocols.
- Foster a positive and motivating work environment, focusing on teamwork, productivity, and employee retention.
- Create staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage during peak and off-peak hours.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve staff performance.
- Customer Experience:
- Ensure exceptional guest experience by maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns in a professional manner.
- Oversee the development and implementation of promotional strategies to attract and retain customers, such as special events or loyalty programs.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in cocktails, beverage offerings, and bar entertainment to keep the bar fresh and innovative.
- Financial Management:
- Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying areas to reduce costs and increase profitability.
- Prepare and manage budgets for labour, supplies, and other operational expenses.
- Track inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and ensure waste is minimized.
- Implement pricing strategies and control measures to maintain profitability without sacrificing customer experience.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure the bar complies with all local alcohol licensing laws and regulations.
- Monitor the implementation of safety standards, ensuring a safe environment for staff and customers.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, ensuring all equipment is in good working order and that the bar environment meets health and safety standards.
- Promote responsible alcohol consumption among guests.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Provide regular reports to the General Manager or Operations Director on operational performance, financials, staff issues, and customer feedback.
- Maintain open communication with upper management and other departments to address any operational challenges.
