Manager/Sr. Manager - Legal - Manufacturing & Mining
Job Description:

- We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel with a strong understanding of the manufacturing and mining industries. The ideal candidate will possess a robust skill set in legal advisory, litigation management, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- This role involves handling complex legal matters and supporting the organization's strategic objectives while mitigating risks.
Experience Required:
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in litigation and regulatory compliance, particularly within the manufacturing and mining sectors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law (LLB/ LLM) from a recognized institution preferably with a mix of in-house and law firm experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the manufacturing or mining sectors, with expertise in handling industry-specific legal issues under EHS,
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws, mining regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in managing recovery proceedings and intellectual property rights.
- Familiarity with corporate restructuring processes, litigation, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Litigation and Dispute Resolution:
- Manage legal disputes and litigation related to mining leases, land acquisition, environmental compliance, and operational issues. Draft and review legal notices, respond to claims, and work with external counsel to safeguard the organization's interests.
2. Regulatory Compliance and Risk Mitigation:
- Ensure adherence to industry-specific regulations, including environmental, labor, and safety laws. Conduct due diligence on operational and contractual risks and develop strategies to mitigate legal liabilities. Stay updated on legal developments in the manufacturing and mining sectors to ensure organizational compliance.
3. Corporate Restructuring and Legal Support:
- Support corporate restructuring initiatives by liaising with external consultants and advising on legal implications. Provide legal guidance on mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures within the manufacturing and mining space.
4. Compliance and Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand operational objectives and provide legal solutions aligned with industry's best practices. Offer training and insights on regulatory compliance and risk management.
