Senior Specialist - Software Engineering

We are seeking a Cloud Application Migration Specialist with expertise in Java applications and handson experience in migrating from Pivotal Cloud Foundry PCF Tanzu Application Service TAS or Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition TKGI to Red Hat OpenShift OCP The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of Java runtimes and applications experience with containerization and strong skills in Kubernetes and OpenShift deployments

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field or equivalent work experience

5 years of experience in Java application development architecture and deployment in cloud or containerized environments

Deep understanding of Java runtime environments application servers eg WebSphere Liberty Apache Tomcat and J2EE architectures

Handson experience with PCFTASTKGI and OpenShift Container Platform with a proven track record of successful migrations

Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools especially Kubernetes

Knowledge of Helm for application packaging

Solid understanding of CICD pipelines and related tools eg Jenkins Tekton Harness

Strong experience in troubleshooting profiling and performance tuning of Java applications in a Kubernetes environment

Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds

Key Responsibilities

Lead the migration of Java applications from PCFTASTKGI environments to OpenShift Container Platform using tools such as RedHat MTA and Konveyor Move2Kube

Analyze design and implement solutions for migrating applications taking into account application dependencies performance requirements and security standards

Help Optimize and refactor Java applications for containerized environments to improve scalability performance and reliability on OpenShift

Develop and utilize automation scripts and tools to streamline migration processes enhance efficiency and ensure consistency

Collaborate closely with DevOps Platform and Application Development teams to ensure seamless integration deployment and operational readiness of migrated applications

Conduct assessments gather requirements and provide guidance on best practices and industry standards for Java applications on OpenShift

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application dependencies runtime errors networking and configuration management

Create and deliver technical documentation migration plans and postmigration support materials

Certification in OpenShift Administration Kubernetes Administration or Cloud Architecture
