Operation Theatre General Technician

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation and Setup: Prepare the operation theatre before surgeries by ensuring that all necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and available. Ensure proper setup of operating tables, lighting, suction devices, anesthesia equipment, and monitoring systems.

Assisting during Procedures: Support surgeons, nurses, and other surgical staff during operations by providing instruments, adjusting surgical equipment, and handling supplies as needed. Maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure.

Sterilization and Disinfection: Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and meet infection control standards. Assist in cleaning and disinfecting the operation theatre before and after procedures.

Equipment Maintenance: Regularly check, maintain, and calibrate surgical equipment, including monitoring machines, surgical instruments, and operating tables. Report any malfunctions or issues to the supervisor and assist with troubleshooting and repairs.

Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of surgical instruments, supplies, and sterile materials. Assist in the inventory management system, including ordering and restocking of necessary surgical items.

Patient Safety and Comfort: Assist in preparing patients for surgery by ensuring that patient positioning is correct and that the surgical area is appropriately marked. Help with the application of patient drapes and other preparations to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Assist with Anesthesia: Help anesthesia staff with the setup of anesthesia machines and equipment. Monitor equipment during procedures to ensure its proper functioning.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, sterilization logs, and any incidents or issues during the surgical process. Assist in documenting and reporting surgical procedures as required.
