Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to deliver engaging, high-quality English language and literature lessons to students preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE English Language. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the IGCSE curriculum, a commitment to student-centered learning, and the ability to help students develop the critical thinking, writing, and communication skills needed for success in their exams and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Duties:
• Teach IGCSE English Language courses, ensuring that all aspects of the syllabus are covered effectively.
• Plan and deliver dynamic, engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages active participation, student inquiry, and independent learning.
• Assessment and Feedback:
• Conduct regular formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Provide constructive and timely feedback on student assignments, essays, and oral presentations.
• Prepare students for the IGCSE exams through mock exams, practice papers, and revision sessions.
• Provide feedback on exam technique and guide students through the IGCSE assessment criteria.
• Curriculum Development:
• Adhere to the IGCSE syllabus and ensure that all required content is taught to the highest standard.
• Develop, update, and adapt teaching resources, including lesson plans, worksheets, and multimedia content.
• Implement best practices in teaching methodology to make lessons interesting, interactive, and relevant to real-world contexts.
• Student Support and Guidance:
• Provide individual support to students who may need additional help with reading, writing, or exam preparation.
• Motivate students to reach their full potential and maintain high academic standards.
• Organize extra revision classes, study groups, and one-on-one tutoring sessions as needed.
• Help students build confidence and develop effective study habits for success in exams.
• Professional Development:
• Stay up-to-date with changes to the IGCSE English syllabus and exam formats, as well as innovative teaching methods and technologies.
• Attend regular departmental meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to departmental discussions on curriculum improvements and best practices.
• Administrative Duties:
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and performance.
• Ensure that all paperwork related to student assessments, reports, and exams is completed accurately and on time.
• Other Responsibilities:
• Participate in school events, parent-teacher meetings, and other academic or extracurricular activities as required.
• Promote the school's ethos and values, contributing positively to the wider school community.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Education, English, or a related field; teaching certification preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience teaching primary education, especially in English language, is highly desirable.
• Skills: Strong understanding of language and literacy development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate young learners.
• Experience with differentiated instruction and supporting students with a range of abilities.
• Familiarity with Cambridge assessment practices and IGCSE grading criteria.
• Knowledge of additional languages or experience teaching in multicultural environments is an advantage.
