COBOL Developer - Unix/Scripting (3-5 yrs)

Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

- Write, maintain, and debug COBOL code in line with business requirements.

- Collaborate with business analysts to understand specifications and translate them into technical designs.

- Identify and resolve defects in COBOL code efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

- Conduct thorough testing and validation of fixes to ensure code quality and performance.

- Engage with clients to gather requirements, provide updates, and address any concerns.

- Translate technical details into layman's terms for non-technical stakeholders.

- Monitor and ensure adherence to SLAs for development and support activities.

- Proactively manage workload to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.

- Work effectively within a team, sharing knowledge and providing support to peers.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team best practices.

Must-Have Skills :

- Proficient in COBOL programming and understanding of legacy systems.

- Experience in writing and optimizing PL/SQL queries for database interactions.

- Solid knowledge of Unix operating systems and scripting.

Good-to-Have Skills :

- Familiarity with banking applications, regulations, and workflows.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Experience in COBOL development and support. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
