Layer 1 (L1) Engineer (Urgent Requirement) | Full-Time Permanent Role

Role Overview:

As a Layer 1 (L1) Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement Layer-1 software solutions, including mixed signal, RF, and FPGA/DSP modules. This role focuses on building advanced RAN systems, with responsibilities extending to board bring-up, multicore platform integration, and debugging. This is a permanent position with ACL Digital and the client is Nokia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Layer-1 software, mixed signal software, RF, and FPGA/DSP algorithms.
• Perform board bring-up and design implementation for multicore platforms, including Intel Xeon and NXP SoC architectures.
• Debug field and integration issues across kernel, devices, hardware accelerators, and networking areas.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate third-party software such as Wind River and DSP BIOS.
• Optimize system performance with a focus on signal processing concepts and Layer-1 theories.

Key Skills & Technologies:

• Programming Languages: Proficiency in C/C++ and code optimization techniques.
• Hardware Knowledge: Experience with multicore and multi-processor architectures, board bring-up, and bootloaders.
• Linux Expertise: Kernel module development, device drivers, and RT Linux kernel scheduling.
• Debugging Skills: Expertise in tools like JTAG, kgdb, and gdb for system profiling and debugging.
• Signal Processing: In-depth knowledge of Layer-1 theories, DSP programming, and Intel FlexRAN.
• Testing: Experience with UE Simulator, VSA/VSG, logic analyzers, and network analyzers.
• Scripting: Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or shell scripting is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related fields.
• Experience with system performance profiling tools such as OProfile and perf tools.
• Project management knowledge is a plus.
