Job Description

You will work with business partners around the world to understand their needs then create and build the right solution. Using consistent service patterns, you ll make a global deployment look easy. With a focus on the future, you will also keep things simple to support and enhance ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities:

Guide team in development efforts towards successful project delivery.
Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web- and desktop-based business applications built on Microsoft technologies.
Assist in the collection and documentation of users requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans.
Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
Analyze and resolve technical and application problems.
Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
Research and evaluate software products and new technical solutions and services.

Requirements

Qualifications External

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

Bachelor s degree in engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
12+ years experience as a Software Developer
Minimum 5+ year experience in a tech lead position
Extensive experience designing and developing enterprise level software products and solutions
Expertise in front end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Expertise in User Interface frameworks such as Angular JS, React JS (Preferred).
Expertise in server-side languages such as Powershell, Python, Java, .Net, NodeJS, C#
Proficiency with database technology such as MySQL, Oracle and MongoDB.
Experience with agile development methodologies
Hands on experience in writing and reviewing requirements, test plans and design documents.
Expertise in one of the cloud solutions (Azure, GCP, AWS)
Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments
Experience with automated testing
Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
Strong communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders
Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes more specifically HSBC s structures, values, behaviours, processes and objectives

Management could be demanding in certain departments, but this is a common scenario in most organizations. HSBC should consider providing more on-site opportunities to their permanent staff instead of hiring contractors for on-site positions and restricting permanent employees from traveling.
