Solar Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design & Simulation:
• Utilize PVSYST software to model and optimize the performance of solar PV systems.
• Design Electrical Schemes, simulate, and analyze solar power plants with a focus on cost reduction, maximizing energy output and ensuring efficient system integration.
• Produce detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for solar power plants, ensuring accurate representation of electrical systems, connections, and configurations.
• Solar Plant Design:
• Design solar PV systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects and collaborate with engineering consultants.
• Conduct site assessments, considering geographical, environmental, and electrical conditions for optimal solar plant design.
• Develop layout plans, selecting appropriate equipment, including panels, inverters, transformers, and cables.
• Can produce specification of the various key components of the Solar Plant and collaborate with procurement team for arranging the quotes
• Design optimization for reduction of cost of Solar Plants
• Electrical Systems & Transmission:
• Provide in-depth understanding and support for the electrical transmission systems with respect to solar power plants.
• Work on the integration of solar systems with existing electrical grids, ensuring compatibility with transmission lines, substations, switchyards and other electrical infrastructure at HV and EHV level.
• Develop and review connectivity schemes, transmission, and interconnection strategies with electrical utilities.
• Project Support & Coordination:
• Work closely with project managers and site engineers to ensure the timely execution of solar power projects.
• Oversee and guide the installation teams to ensure that designs are followed accurately.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving issues during engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, and operational phases.

Preferred candidate profile

• Technical Expertise:
• Extensive experience using PVSYST software for simulation and optimization of solar PV systems.
• Proficient in creating and interpreting Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for solar plants, demonstrating a thorough understanding of electrical layout and integration.
• Strong knowledge of electrical transmission systems and the connectivity involved in linking solar plants with electrical grids.
• Educational Background:
• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of solar plant electrical components and their interconnections.
• Ability to design, simulate, and optimize solar systems effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in PVSYST, and other solar design software tools.
