Manager - Payroll

Role & responsibilities

The role holder will have accountability and some responsibility for their team's initial adoption of work and then business as usual performance in the following areas:

Financial management:

• Manages transactional teams effectively to drive flexibility, manage demand and identify opportunities to automate/streamline processes
• Provides direction and operational leadership for Accounts Payables initiatives for a market (or markets)
• Manages and resolves escalated issues temp worker/consultant and management queries
• Produces statistics as required
• Resolves operational queries and issues to optimize performance
• Co-ordinates the production of month end and ad hoc reporting
• Reviews dashboards, KPIs and SLA performance and escalates issues where required
• Responsible for the internal control and effective routine process compliance, transition of billing against agreed SLAs
• Enforces and communicates Hays Group Finance policy and ensures adequate controls are in place

• Recruits and proactively develops the skills and capabilities of the team
• Fosters a culture of high-quality performance and continuous improvement in the process, drive employee engagement and delivery productivity commitments.
• Plans, coordinates and reviews the work plan for assigned employees and respond to grievances or issues
• Ability to drive discipline across financial processes and provide professional accounting leadership
• Responsible for driving positive interactions with and feedback from internal and external business stakeholders
• Ensures process documentation and preparation/updating of standard operating Procedures (SOPs) whenever required

Preferred candidate profile

• Prior managerial experience with the ability to guide, coach and mentor future managers, team leaders and members
• Extensive knowledge of payroll, 3rd Party payroll and travel and expense processing in a large finance function
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
• Ability to assemble, compile and analyse Financial/non-financial data
• Advanced understanding and experience of basic office applications (including MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Ready to drive changes, initiate projects & perform multiple tasks
• Proven people management skills including building and developing high performing teams
• Experience of having managed a transition of activities to a shared service as a functional lead
• Track record of using data and metrics to make insight-driven business decisions
