Manager - Record To Report

Role & responsibilities

The role holder will have accountability and some responsibility for their teams initial adoption of work and then business as usual performance in the following areas:

Financial management:

• Provides direction and operational leadership for all R2D / R2R processes including comprehensive evaluation of daily, weekly and/or monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
• Manages, reconciles, and settles inter-company transactions/balances
• Journal creation, posting and analysis, including accruals and prepayments
• Management of period end closing activities and prepare month end reports for sign off
• Management of fixed assets
• Supports financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processes
• Supports commercial decision making through analysis
• Provides accurate and timely financial information, reports and analysis, including management reporting packs
• Works with the Tower Lead to define and refine policies, process controls and compliance
• Provides management responses and action plans for Audit
• Monitors and evaluates the efficacy of assigned service delivery methods and procedures
• Manages complex client rebates processes, mitigating risks, where required

• Recruits and proactively develops the skills and capabilities of the team
• Fosters a culture of high-quality performance and continuous improvement in the process, drive employee engagement and delivery productivity commitments
• Plans, coordinates and reviews the work plan for assigned employees and respond to grievances or issues
• Ability to drive discipline across financial processes and provide professional accounting leadership
• Responsible for driving positive interactions with and feedback from internal and external business stakeholders
• Ensures process documentation and preparation/updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs) whenever required

Preferred candidate profile

• Prior managerial experience with the ability to guide, coach and mentor future managers, team leaders and members
• Extensive knowledge of accounting for processes covered by a financial accounting position (bank reconciliations, fixed asset management, intercompany accounting & management accounting i.e. Planning, budgeting and forecasting and commercial decision making.)
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
• Ability to assemble, compile and analyse Financial/non-financial data
• Advanced understanding and experience of basic office applications (including MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Ready to drive changes, initiate projects & perform multiple tasks
• Proven people management skills including building and developing high performing teams
• Experience of having managed a transition of activities to a shared service as a functional lead
• Track record of using data and metrics to make insight-driven business decisions
