ABOUT THE ROLE
The Haleon Business Services (HBS) Capability Centre Head - India is a pivotal leadership role, overseeing the performance and delivery of services and solutions at our strategic capability centre in India. As a key member of the global HBS Leadership Team, this role serves as the primary contact for stakeholders across Haleon and reports into the Global Head of Haleon Business Services.
  • Provide in-country leadership for facilities, infrastructure, people, culture, continuous excellence, workplace environment, and compliance.
  • Act as an HBS ambassador, fostering trusted relationships with business and functional stakeholders.
  • Drive the growth and maturity of the centre from 700 to potentially 3,000 colleagues, transitioning to a fully integrated, multi-functional, digitally enabled organization.
  • Lead a multi-functional, multi-regional, end-to-end delivery model, embodying the Win as One framework.
This role is crucial for building trust and confidence in our workforce in India, ensuring the centre delivers on strategic and operational objectives, and supporting HBS in freeing up cash and time for Haleon.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is crucial for ensuring the readiness of location, seamless transitions, and efficient service delivery from the centre. It involves close collaboration with global and regional stakeholders to drive the Win as One outcomes by fostering cross-functional collaboration, promoting an end-to-end mindset, and overseeing process optimizations.
  • Work with centre and HBS leadership to build a strong value proposition for talent and a robust employment brand.
  • Create a working environment that values critical thinking, user centricity, technology savviness, and problem-solving.
  • Encourage challenging the status quo through continuous excellence practices.
  • Collaborate with other capability centre leads to resolve issues and ensure transparency and consistency across centres.
This role is essential for building a strong culture and ensuring the smooth functioning and consistent delivery of services.
1. Strategy: Leadership and Planning
  • Lead the evolution and disciplined implementation of the HBS strategy at the India capability centre.
  • Oversee the ongoing performance delivery, governance, and transparent reporting of HBS India at key leadership meetings.
  • Drive the growth and maturity of the centre by incorporating external insights, positioning HBS India as a talent destination, and executing strategic initiatives to build future capabilities.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Win as One strategy, collaborating with functional leadership and Haleon India local business leaders as needed.
  • Work with executive leadership to identify and prioritize high-impact projects that leverage the India capability centre for Haleons advantage.
2. People: Culture and Talent
  • Provide centre-level leadership to embed the Win as One culture, fostering a winning and inclusive work environment. Promote high performance, collaboration, and end-to-end thinking, driving team empowerment and engagement. Build trust and positive relationships within the centre and across Haleon.
  • Drive talent attraction, retention, and motivation by establishing and reinforcing the Employee Value Proposition (EVP). Collaborate with HBS India HR BP, global functional leaders, and the broader HR organization to influence and drive strategic talent management components, including learning and leadership development, high-performance teams, succession planning, career coaching, and career management. Provide input on talent reviews and support capability development in the centre. Partner with functions and regions on talent management processes and reviews to ensure visibility of global talent pools across HBS.
  • Enhance colleague engagement and experience at the India Capability Centre by working closely with functional leaders.
  • Monitor resource levels to support business needs and actively participate in the recruitment and development of senior talent in the centre.
3. Process: Service Delivery
  • Serve as the single point of contact for the portfolio of services delivered from the centre and handle escalations for cross-service line matters.
  • Oversee day-to-day service delivery, ensuring alignment with HBS service plans and objectives. Ensure adherence to governance, process discipline, and controls set by global functional leads, and compliance with Service Partnership Agreements.
  • Collaborate with global functional leads to ensure location readiness, manage smooth service transitions, and drive high performance. Support change management and communication throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership on facilities, infrastructure, and office space requirements for all functions.
  • Ensure the introduction and evolution of services align with global requirements.
  • Role model and promote a culture of continuous excellence, fostering an integrated end-to-end high-performing culture and enhancing the HBS brand.
4. Partnership: Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management
  • Maintain strategic partnerships with functions, business units, and regions. Build strong relationships to understand regional requirements and expectations, acting as the Voice of HBS to functional and regional leadership, and vice versa.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Haleon Executive Team, functional and business unit heads, and key sponsors.
  • Facilitate clear communication across teams, ensuring transparency and alignment during growth, service delivery, and key project execution. Promote collaboration and focus on impact.
  • Ensure disciplined application of HBS governance through regular meetings, driving value capture and operational excellence with business units. Share agreed metrics and updates at key leadership and steering committee meetings to keep stakeholders informed on service delivery, project status, and support needed.
5. Risk: Management and Compliance
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the centre and its deliverables.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies using data-driven insights.
  • Regularly test and update the Business Continuity Plan.
  • Maintain high standards of governance and reporting across strategy, people, process, and partnership.
6. Team: Leadership and Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing HBS India Leadership Team, establishing a clear working charter and driving ownership of delivery.
  • Invest in team development through training, mentorship, and career growth opportunities.
  • Foster a Win as One culture within the leadership team, promoting innovation, collaboration, and continuous excellence.
  • Collaborate with HBS Leadership to build trust and confidence in the HBS brand and achieve HBS ambitions in a global multi-functional context.
  • Actively contribute as a member of the HBS Leadership Team.
7. Budget and Resource Management
  • Be responsible for shaping and managing the centre s budget.
  • Monitor financial performance for both the current Annual Business Planning (ABP) cycle and the 3-year Long Range Planning (LRP) horizon to ensure strategic investments and cost optimization.
  • Coordinate with finance and procurement teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and optimize resource utilization.
Why you
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor s degree essential
  • MBA or relevant Master s degree preferred
  • Formal leadership/management training
EXPERIENCE:
  • 20+ years in leading and managing businesses/functions with a focus on senior stakeholder management, service delivery, and portfolio shaping
  • Proven track record in setting up and maturing multi-functional, digitally enabled capability centre in India or similar markets
  • Global experience with stakeholders, leaders, and teams across various countries and time zones
  • Significant experience in CPG/FMCG preferred
SKILLS:
  • Strong operational planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment
  • Strong senior (and global) stakeholder management
  • On-ground leadership, leading by example and influence
  • Ability to attract, motivate, set context, and develop colleagues towards continuous excellence
