Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Logistics & Warehouse Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive logistics and warehouse strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of high-value artworks.
- Oversee all aspects of international and domestic logistics, including transportation, warehousing, customs clearance, and insurance, with a focus on mitigating risks associated with art handling.
- Establish and maintain robust standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all logistics and warehouse activities, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular audits of logistics and warehouse operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the logistics and warehouse team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
2. Specialized Art Handling & Transportation:
- Manage the planning and execution of specialized art handling procedures, including packing, crating, and climate-controlled transportation for delicate artworks.
- Ensure the selection and management of specialized art transport companies with expertise in handling high-value and fragile items.
- Oversee the implementation of temperature and humidity monitoring systems in warehouses and transport vehicles to ensure optimal environmental conditions for artworks.
- Coordinate the secure movement of artworks for exhibitions, gallery displays, and museum installations, both domestically and internationally.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for potential incidents involving art handling and transportation.
3. Customs & Regulatory Compliance:
- Manage all aspects of international customs clearance, including the preparation and submission of required documentation and the resolution of customs-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable domestic and international regulations related to the transportation and storage of artworks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and trade agreements, and provide guidance to the team on compliance matters.
- Manage Art specific insurance requirements, and ensure that all shipments are properly insured.
4. Vendor Management & Procurement:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, including transport companies, packaging suppliers, and customs brokers.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and high-quality service.
- Evaluate vendor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Source and onboard new vendors with specialized expertise in art handling and logistics.
5. Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management:
- Oversee the efficient management of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of artworks.
- Implement and maintain a robust inventory management system to track the location and condition of artworks.
- Ensure the security and safety of artworks stored in the warehouse, implementing appropriate security measures.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations.
6. Cost Optimization & Performance Management:
- Develop and manage the logistics and warehouse budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising the safety and security of artworks.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics and warehouse operations, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and present regular reports on logistics and warehouse performance to senior management.
7. Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and motivate the logistics and warehouse team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Provide training and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Conduct performance 1 reviews and provide feedback to team members.
Experience:
- 10-15 years of progressive experience in logistics and warehouse management, preferably in art and luxury goods.
- Proven experience in managing temperature-controlled transportation and warehousing.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of international and domestic shipping regulations, customs procedures, and art handling best practices.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and contract management skills.
- Knowledge of Art specific insurance requirements.
- Proficiency in logistics and warehouse management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and Hindi.
