Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Category Manager to oversee the management and growth of specific product categories. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies, optimizing product assortments, and driving sales performance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in product management, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure the success of their category.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category strategies to drive growth and maximize profitability.
- Analyze category performance by evaluating sales data, trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Manage product assortments, pricing strategies, and promotional plans for the assigned category.
- Collaborate with purchasing, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure products are well-stocked and meet customer demand.
- Lead the forecasting and inventory planning process for the category, ensuring appropriate levels of stock while minimizing excess inventory.
- Conduct market research to understand customer preferences, competitor products, and market trends within the category.
- Work closely with sales and marketing teams to create compelling campaigns that highlight category products and drive engagement.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for category performance and regularly report on progress to senior management.
- Manage relationships with key vendors and suppliers, negotiating pricing, promotions, and terms to drive profitability.
- Monitor and evaluate the success of marketing initiatives and product launches within the category and make recommendations for adjustments.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in category management, product management, or a similar role, preferably in retail or consumer goods.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision-making and strategy development.
- Proficiency in Excel or other data analysis tools, and experience with inventory management or forecasting software.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing supplier/vendor relationships.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on delivering results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Experience in e-commerce or online retail environments.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management and experience working with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools.
- Experience with customer segmentation and targeting strategies.
