Position Overview:
- The Head of Credit and Risk is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for overseeing the credit risk management function.
- This individual ensures that the organization's credit policies and procedures are aligned with its risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- By effectively managing credit risk, the Head of Credit and Risk plays a critical role in protecting the financial health of the organization and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Credit Policy Development and Implementation
2. Credit Risk Assessment and Credit Operations
3. Credit Risk & Portfolio management
4. Design and implement collections strategy
5. Credit analytics and building early warning systems
6. Regulatory Compliance
Credit Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement comprehensive credit policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with the organization's risk appetite and regulatory framework.
- Ensure adherence to credit policies and procedures across all business lines.
Credit Risk Assessment, Management & Operations:
- Oversee credit risk evaluation for loans and exposures while effectively managing credit operations. Implement strategies to minimize losses, streamline credit processes, and monitor credit quality to identify potential risks.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor the credit portfolio to ensure risks align with company targets.
- Analyze and report on performance, focusing on delinquency trends, default rates, and loss forecasts, while meeting credit targets.
Collections Strategy:
- Develop a strong collections process to manage late payments and recover outstanding credit. Implement strategies that balance recovery efforts with maintaining client relationships, including legal actions if needed.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant credit risk regulations and reporting requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in the regulatory landscape and adjust credit risk management practices accordingly.
Team Management and Development:
- Lead and manage a team of credit risk professionals, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top talent within the credit risk function.
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with other departments within the organisation to ensure effective credit risk management.
- Communicate credit risk issues and recommendations to senior management and the board of directors.
Qualifications and Experience
- CA/CFA / MBA-Finance/ABM / MCom with 10+ yrs of experience into Credit Risk Management preferably in NBFC's, financial institutions (Banking), Microfinance platforms / organizations that manages high credit transaction.
- Certification in credit risk management (e.g., FRM) is desirable
- Strong understanding of credit risk principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in credit risk modelling and analytics, including statistical techniques and quantitative methods.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- A deep understanding of the organization's business model and risk appetite is crucial.
