Position : Website Manager

Role Overview:

GITAM is seeking a proactive and strategic Webmaster to own and lead its website operations, ensuring it evolves into a dynamic and engaging platform aligned with the universitys goals. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Drupal CMS, a strong understanding of content strategy, and proven experience in product management for websites and mobile applications. This role focuses on proactive coordination, strategic oversight, and ensuring timely execution of updates and enhancements by working closely with the vendor and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Website Oversight:

• Own the overall vision and strategy for the GITAM website, aligning it with institutional goals.
• Act as the central point of contact between GITAMs departments and the vendor, ensuring smooth communication and execution of requirements.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance the websites user experience, navigation, and content organization.

Content Strategy and Management:

• Oversee the creation and curation of content to ensure consistency, relevance, and alignment with GITAMs brand and goals.
• Ensure that decentralized departmental content contributions are cohesive and high- quality.
• Optimize the website for SEO and implement best practices for content discoverability.

Vendor Collaboration:

• Coordinate with the vendors account managers and developers to ensure timely updates, patches, and feature rollouts.
• Approve and prioritize tasks for the vendor, ensuring they align with strategic goals.
• Monitor the vendor’s performance to maintain the AWS-hosted website’s stability, scalability, and security.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

• Provide actionable insights and reports to stakeholders to inform website improvements.
• Ensure that periodic updates and enhancements are implemented proactively, not reactively.

Product Management:

• Plan and execute a roadmap for website enhancements and new features in coordination with internal stakeholders and the vendor.
• Collaborate on the development and integration of mobile applications tied to the website’s ecosystem.
• Maintain a forward-thinking approach to meet evolving user needs and institutional priorities.

Security and Backup Oversight:

• Ensure key security measures (e.g., SSL, firewalls) are maintained and periodically reviewed with the vendor.
• Monitor and validate backup and recovery processes for the website.

Key Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

• Solid understanding of Drupal CMS administration (strategic level).
• Knowledge of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tag Manager) and basic SEO principles.
• Familiarity with AWS hosting environments and monitoring vendor-managed services.

Management Skills:

• Proven experience in product management for websites and/or mobile applications.
• Strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders and align diverse requirements.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work closely with external vendors and internal teams.

Soft Skills:

• Strategic mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience managing websites for large organizations, ideally in the education sector.
• Experience working with vendors to manage CMS platforms and hosting environments.
• Familiarity with best practices for UI/UX on large, content-heavy websites.
