DGM / AGM Procurement (Power Transmission)

Role & responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Planning

1. Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the organizations goals for substation and transmission line projects.
2. Analyze market trends and establish vendor partnerships to ensure cost-effective sourcing and timely delivery.
3. Ensure alignment of procurement activities with project timelines and budgetary constraints.

Vendor & Supplier Management

1. Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers and contractors for key materials such as transformers, cables, switchgear, and steel structures.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
3. Conduct vendor performance evaluations periodically to assess quality, delivery timelines, and overall service.

Tendering & Contract Management

1. Prepare and manage tender documents (RFPs, RFQs) for procurement of equipment and services related to substations and transmission lines.
2. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with vendors to ensure favorable terms.
3. Oversee contract administration, including resolving disputes and ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.

Cost Optimization & Budgeting

1. Monitor and control procurement budgets to avoid cost overruns.
2. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and project requirements.
3. Work closely with finance and project teams to ensure accurate cost allocation.

Material Management

1. Ensure effective inventory management for materials required for ongoing and upcoming projects.
2. Implement measures to avoid material shortages or excesses, ensuring smooth project execution.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

1. Ensure compliance with local and international procurement standards, tax regulations, and environmental guidelines.
2. Establish and maintain quality benchmarks for procured materials and services.

Team Leadership & Development

1. Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering skill development and performance excellence.
2. Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration within the team

Key Qualifications & Experience

1. Educational Background:
• Bachelors degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering).
• MBA in Supply Chain Management or equivalent (preferred).

1. Experience:
• 15-20 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the power transmission sector.
• Extensive experience in procurement for substations, transmission lines, or other heavy electrical infrastructure projects.
2. Industry Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of electrical components, equipment, and services specific to the power transmission sector.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the energy sector.
