Project Manager

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager with 8 to 10 years of experience, specializing in managing data engineering and data science projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in overseeing complex, cross-functional teams and delivering large-scale data-driven projects. You will be responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end lifecycle of data engineering and data science initiatives, ensuring timely delivery, quality execution, and alignment with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Execution:

  • Lead, manage, and oversee the entire project lifecycle for data engineering and data science initiatives, from planning to execution, monitoring, and delivery.
  • Develop project scopes, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Define project timelines, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams including data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and promote effective communication among team members and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, providing regular project updates, identifying risks, and addressing potential issues.

• Risk Management:

  • Identify potential project risks, issues, and roadblocks related to data engineering and data science processes.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Ensure proactive issue resolution and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

• Data Engineering & Data Science Oversight:

  • Oversee technical aspects of data engineering and data science projects, including data pipelines, ETL processes, data models, and machine learning models.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to ensure the proper design, development, and deployment of data infrastructure and analytics solutions.
  • Ensure that best practices for data management, data privacy, and security are followed throughout the project.

• Reporting and Documentation:

  • Provide timely and accurate project status reports, budget updates, and performance metrics to senior leadership.
  • Ensure project documentation is up-to-date and accessible for future reference and knowledge sharing.

• Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate and implement improvements in project management processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Drive the adoption of industry best practices and emerging trends in data engineering and data science.

Skill & Qualification:

• Experience:

  • 8-10 years of experience in project management, with at least 3-5 years of experience specifically managing data engineering or data science projects.
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of large-scale, complex data-driven projects.
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience or deep understanding of data engineering (ETL, data pipelines, cloud platforms) and data science (machine learning, statistical modeling) workflows.

• Education:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

• Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills with experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent understanding of data engineering tools, technologies (e.g., SQL, Hadoop, Spark, cloud platforms), and data science concepts (e.g., machine learning algorithms, model deployment).
  • Proficient in project management tools such as Jira, Trello, MS Project, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation.

• Certifications (Optional):

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent project management certification.
  • Data-related certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer, etc.) are a plus.
