Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for maximizing revenue from the sale of scrap materials generated during lithium battery manufacturing. This role involves identifying potential buyers, managing the sales process, optimizing pricing strategies, negotiating complex contract and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The Scrap Material Seller works collaboratively with internal teams to ensure efficient inventory management, quality assurance, and timely delivery of scrap materials while aligning sales efforts with the companys sustainability and profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Sales and Market Development:

  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with buyers such as recyclers, scrap sellers, industrial users, and secondary market players.
  • Build a strong buyer network across domestic and international markets to diversify revenue streams.
  • Proactively explore new markets for major scrap materials like Cathode & Anode Slurry, Coated & non Coated aluminium & copper foils , Electrolyte, NMP , Separators & Li cells to increase sales opportunities.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with existing buyers to ensure repeat business and strengthen long-term partnerships.

2. Pricing Strategy and Negotiation:

  • Monitor real-time market trends, commodity prices, and demand patterns for key scrap materials.
  • Develop competitive pricing models that maximize revenue while remaining attractive to buyers.
  • Lead contract negotiations with buyers, ensuring favourable payment terms, volumes, and delivery schedules adhering to all legal & statutory compliance.
  • Analyse buyer requirements and material quality to negotiate value-optimized deals.

3. Scrap Material Management and Inventory Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the operations and warehouse teams to ensure the availability of scrap materials for sale.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams for timely and cost-effective transportation of materials to buyers.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of scrap materials, ensuring no overstock or shortages that may disrupt sales.

4. Documentation and Compliance:

  • Ensure all sales transactions comply with environmental, safety, and legal regulations.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation, including sales contracts, invoices, waste manifests, and recycling certificates.
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to address any regulatory updates affecting scrap sales or handling.
  • Provide necessary documentation for audits or certifications to ensure a smooth process.

5. Revenue and Performance Analysis:

  • Track and analyse sales performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas of improvement.
  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports, including revenue, profitability, and buyer feedback.
  • Use performance insights to adjust sales strategies and improve efficiency in the scrap sales process.

6. Collaboration with Internal Teams:

  • Work closely with the production, quality control & R&D teams to understand the scrap material quality parameters & ensure scrap materials meet sales market benchmark.
  • Provide feedback on material quality parameters and buyer preferences to help improve sorting and handling processes.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate invoicing and timely payment collection.

7. Market Intelligence and Strategy Development:

  • Conduct regular market research to stay informed about scrap material demand, competitor activities, and pricing trends.
  • Identify and assess risks, such as fluctuating commodity prices or regulatory changes, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to management regarding market expansion and product diversification opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably PG in Business Administration SCM or Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in recycling or waste management are advantageous.

Experience:

  • 8-10 years of experience in the recycling, waste management in manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of managing sales transactions for scrap or recyclable materials.
  • Experience in the lithium battery or renewable energy sector is a strong advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to close deals effectively.
  • Excellent understanding of commodity pricing and scrap material markets.
  • Proficiency in using Excel, Power Point SAP
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations governing hazardous material sales.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with occasional visits to production facilities, buyer locations, and recycling facilities.
  • Interaction with Production, R&D, Quality logistics, recyclers, compliance & Safety teams.

May require travel for business development or buyer meetings.
