Job Description: Head of Finance & Accounts
Role Overview:
The Head of Finance & Accounts is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial health and strategic financial planning of the organization. This role involves budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Head will work closely with CEO, departmental heads, line staff, and external stakeholders to drive financial efficiency and support the organization's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Budgeting and Forecasting: Primary responsibility for budget preparation at the start of every financial year. Forecasting revenue and expenses at the end of every quarter against the budget. Circulation of departmental budgets to departmental heads and monitoring thereon. Providing feedback on variances and implementing control measures.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Project-wise costing and profitability reporting for each project. Providing data and other information to the investment team. MIS and reporting. Budgeting in coordination with line staff.
3. Internal Audit and Compliance: Overseeing Internal Audit processes. Ensuring compliance with all reporting deadlines and other requirements. Implementing policies and ensuring adherence to controls. US Licensing.
4. Asset Management and Insurance: Ensuring the Fixed Asset Management system is in place. Documenting Finance Policies and Processes. Adherence to Information Security Policy. Ensuring applicable Insurance plans to safeguard the company's assets and align with customer requirements.
5. Accounts Receivables and Payables: Overseeing Accounts Receivables and Payables. Overseeing the filing of tax returns, including income tax, RBI, and TDS returns.
6. Cost Management and Procurement: Providing costs for new prospects. Coordinating with lawyers in finalizing agreements such as Shareholders Agreements and client contracts. Ensuring timely and accurate processing and disbursement of payroll. Negotiating with banks for the maintenance of existing facilities and obtaining new facilities. Maintaining all vendor agreements and contracts (e.g., AMC, Transport, Insurance of fixed assets).
7. Cost Control and Statutory Compliance: Devising cost control measures and providing guidance to line staff. Carrying out statutory deductions from salary (e.g., PPF, ESIC, Professional Tax, TDS). Overseeing Banking and Treasury operations.
Overseeing payments and expenses related to the U.S. Liaison office. Ensuring compliance with all statutory reporting and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: CA/CS or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in financial management.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices.
- Skills: Conceptual thinking, planning and organizing, decision-making, analytical skills.
- Attitude: Empathy, initiative, assertiveness, commitment to keeping promises.
