Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The Head - Supply Chain Management is a critical leadership position responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain operations for the T&D and Renewables segments. This includes procurement of supply and services, inventory management, vendor management, and overall supply chain optimisation. The role demands strategic leadership to set up and streamline supply chain processes, implement ERP systems, ensure operational efficiency, and manage stakeholder relationships effectively. The candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring cost optimisation, timely delivery, and compliance with technical and contractual specifications, contributing to the overall profitability and success of the organisation.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Strategic Leadership:

  • Establish and lead the Supply Chain Management department, including setting up policies, processes, and systems aligned with organisational goals.
  • Implement and optimise ERP systems for seamless supply chain operations.
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies to support T&D and Renewables business objectives.

2. Procurement and Inventory Management:

  • Oversee procurement activities for both supply and services, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Vet and approve procurement orders to ensure alignment with project goals and margin objectives.
  • Optimise inventory management to maintain adequate stock levels, minimise waste, and reduce costs.

3. Vendor and Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop and manage vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply and high-quality service.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations and onboarding based on quality, cost, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to address technical, financial, and operational issues.

4. Negotiation and Contract Management:

  • Lead negotiations to achieve the best value for the organisation while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts with vendors to ensure compliance with terms and mitigate risks.
  • Resolve disputes and manage contract performance to meet project deadlines and objectives.

5. Operations and Delivery Management:

  • Ensure timely ordering, production, and delivery of materials to project sites as per project schedules.
  • Monitor and manage the entire PR-to-delivery cycle, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
  • Conduct critical path analysis to identify and mitigate potential delays in the supply chain.

6. Performance Management and Optimisation:

  • Drive margin booking through cost-efficient procurement and supply chain practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce lead times.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for supply chain performance and take corrective actions as needed.

7. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with organisational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement, delivery, and vendor performance.

8. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and mentor a high-performing supply chain team capable of managing complex projects.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration within the team.

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.


  • 12-15 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in the T&D and Renewables sectors.
  • Proven experience in ERP implementation and supply chain digitisation.
  • Strong understanding of procurement practices, contract management, vendor evaluation, and negotiation strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and with external partners.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in critical path analysis and risk mitigation.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities with a focus on performance optimisation.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
