Datacom Test Engineer - Python/PyTest (4-6 yrs)

Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for Datacom products, covering various aspects such as functionality, performance, scalability, and interoperability.

- Develop and maintain automated test suites using Python, leveraging frameworks like PyATS and Robot Framework.

- Utilize PyTest for unit testing and integration testing of software components.

- Gain in-depth knowledge of L2/L3 protocols (e.g., Ethernet, IP, MPLS, VLAN, QoS) and their implementation in switches and routers.

- Thorough understanding of control plane and data plane operations in network devices.

- Experience with traffic generators (e.g., IXIA, Spirent) for performance testing and traffic generation.

- Conduct root cause analysis and debug complex issues related to test failures.

- Collaborate effectively with development, product management, and other cross-functional teams.

- Maintain accurate and detailed test reports.

- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in networking technologies and testing methodologies.

Qualifications :

- 4+ years of experience in Datacom testing.

- Strong proficiency in Python programming and automation.

- Experience with PyATS and Robot Framework is a significant plus.

- Good understanding of PyTest and its application in testing.

- In-depth knowledge of L2/L3 protocols (e.g., Ethernet, IP, MPLS, VLAN, QoS) and their implementation in switches and routers.

- Solid understanding of control plane and data plane operations.

- Experience with traffic generators like IXIA, Spirent.

- Proven ability to write clear and concise test plans and automate end-to-end test scenarios.

- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with Agile development methodologies.

- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks.
