Director - New Product Review & Operational Risk Oversight (8-12 yrs)

Our client, a well-established international bank, seeks a strategic, engaging leader to join as Director of New Product Approval and Operational Risk oversight. This newly established role will be critical in shaping the approach to managing operational risk, ensuring compliance, and strengthening oversight frameworks. This position offers high visibility and significant exposure to senior leadership across the bank. Our client is actively seeking individuals who are not from a traditional Operational Risk background, but a broad capital markets product exposure with an in depth understanding of the trade flow process.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

- Lead the technical review of due diligence conducted by functions during the product review processes, ensuring alignment with the company's strategy.

- Partner with Business and Functional heads to manage the process, balancing commercial and regulatory objectives.

- Conduct independent reviews and challenge proposals to align with policy standards.

- Host committee meetings, drive the strategic agenda, and champion cultural change through strong employee engagement.

To be eligible for this role you will require:

- 8+ years of experience.

- Expertise in Business (Corporates, Investment Banking, Markets), Risk Management, Compliance, Fraud Risk, Legal, Treasury, or Operational Risk.

- Proficiency in control frameworks within banking, ideally with a background in Product Governance.

- Strong decision-making skills with a proven ability to manage stakeholders, guide teams, and balance competing priorities.

- Familiarity with MiFID regulations, quality assurance, and Operational Risk frameworks is highly valued.

- Experience in continuous improvement initiatives and conducting quality audits.
