Assistant Manager - Terminal Operations - Rail & Inland Terminals

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly organized and efficient Assistant Manager to join our Terminal Operations team. This role will involve overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the terminal, ensuring the smooth and safe movement of goods, vehicles, and people. You will support the Terminal Manager in coordinating logistics, managing personnel, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, operational policies, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Terminal Operations Management: Assist in overseeing all terminal operations, including cargo handling, loading/unloading, warehousing, and transportation coordination.
• Team Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the activities of terminal staff, including operators, warehouse personnel, and logistics teams, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety standards.
• Operational Efficiency: Monitor terminal operations to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Implement corrective actions to improve productivity, reduce turnaround times, and optimize terminal workflow.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and relevant legal requirements. Conduct regular safety audits and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
• Logistics Coordination: Coordinate logistics between various departments to ensure the timely and accurate movement of goods and materials through the terminal.
• Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, tracking shipments, and ensuring the correct handling and storage of goods.
• Customer Service: Work closely with customers to ensure their needs are met, resolve operational issues, and maintain a high level of service quality.
• Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance, operation, and optimal use of terminal equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and other machinery.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit reports related to terminal operations, including performance metrics, safety audits, and operational updates, to the Terminal Manager.
• Staff Training & Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to terminal staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties efficiently.
• Problem Resolution: Address operational challenges, including delays, equipment issues, and customer complaints, ensuring quick and effective resolution.
• Budget Management: Assist in managing operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective terminal operations and minimizing operational expenses.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
