Accounting Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking highly skilled and detail-oriented bookkeepers to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in bookkeeping, financial recordkeeping, reconciliation, and reporting, preferably within a remote work environment.

The role requires a strong grasp of accounting principles, proficiency in multiple accounting software platforms, and the ability to handle complex bookkeeping tasks for multiple clients simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily bookkeeping operations: Manage accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Bank and credit card reconciliations: Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner.
• Payroll processing: Oversee payroll operations using software like QuickBooks Payroll, Gusto, or ADP.
• Financial reporting: Generate balance sheets, P&L statements, cash flow reports, and custom reports tailored to client needs.
• Tax preparation support: Assist clients with tax-ready financials, preparing records for CPA review.
• Automation & process optimization: Identify inefficiencies in clients' bookkeeping workflows and suggest improvements using digital tools and automation.
• Client communication & advisory: Work closely with clients to understand financial goals, provide financial insights, and troubleshoot any accounting discrepancies.

Qualifications & Skills

• 3+ years of bookkeeping experience in an accounting firm, business services firm, or internal finance department.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required), Xero, NetSuite, or similar accounting platforms.
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple clients effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to reconcile discrepancies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems and data visualization tools is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working remotely in a bookkeeping or accounting role.
• Prior experience working with U.S.-based clients or SMBs.
• Knowledge of automated bookkeeping tools and financial reporting dashboards.
• Background in financial analysis, forecasting, or budgeting is a plus.
