Job Description: Accountant US Bookkeeping & Advisory Services

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled accountant to join our team in Kolkata, India, to work directly with US-based clients and help grow the accounting and bookkeeping practice. The ideal candidate should have expertise in QuickBooks Online, strong communication skills, and preferably hold a Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent certification (CPA or CFA). The role requires a strong understanding of US accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, and tax-related compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, train and lead a team of bookkeepers
• Perform end-to-end bookkeeping for US clients, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
• Handle bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist clients in setting up and managing QuickBooks Online, optimizing workflows for efficiency.
• Provide financial insights, budgeting, and forecasting support to clients.
• Work closely with US-based CPAs and tax professionals for year-end tax preparation and audits.
• Stay updated on US accounting regulations and tax policies that impact bookkeeping and reporting.
• Communicate proactively with clients via email, Zoom, and Slack, providing clear financial insights and updates.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and software integrations to improve efficiency.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred, or equivalent qualification (CPA, CMA, ACCA).
• 5-10 years of experience
• Strong expertise in QuickBooks Online (certification preferred).
• Experience with other accounting tools like Xero, NetSuite, Bill.com, Gusto, or ADP is a plus.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Excellent English communication skills (written & verbal) to interact with US clients.
• Ability to analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights to business owners.
• Tech-savvy, with experience in integrating accounting systems with other business tools.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, managing multiple client accounts.

Preferred Skills:

• Prior experience working with a US-based accounting firm or outsourced accounting services.
• Understanding of US sales tax and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of AI-based accounting tools, or automation processes for bookkeeping.
