Role & responsibilities

• Risk Assessment and Safety Audits: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
• Safety Training: Provide safety training to employees, including emergency response protocols, safe equipment operation, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and hazard communication.
• Compliance with Regulations: Ensure the plant adheres to all local, state, and federal safety regulations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents to determine the root cause and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
• Emergency Response Plans: Develop and implement emergency plans, such as fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid.
• Equipment and Machinery Safety: Ensure all machinery and equipment are regularly inspected, maintained, and operated safely, with proper safeguards in place.
• Safety Documentation: Maintain records of safety inspections, accidents, safety meetings, and employee training programs.
• PPE Management: Ensure the proper use of PPE (e.g., gloves, goggles, helmets) and that it is maintained in good condition.
• Site Safety Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the construction site to identify and eliminate potential hazards, such as unsafe scaffolding, tools, or materials.
• Safety Planning: Develop and enforce safety plans for each construction project, including hazard analysis, personal protection plans, and safe work practices.
• Compliance with Construction Safety Regulations: Ensure the site adheres to industry safety regulations like OSHA standards for construction, ensuring workers are compliant with safe work methods.
• Tool and Equipment Safety: Ensure that workers use construction tools and machinery properly and safely, and that equipment is regularly maintained.
• Worker Safety Training: Train workers on the proper handling of tools, working at heights, scaffolding safety, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency preparedness.
• Emergency Response Plans: Develop and communicate emergency protocols for situations like site evacuations, accidents, and natural disasters.
• Accident Investigations: Investigate accidents or near-misses on site to identify causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Permit-to-Work Systems: Oversee and enforce any permit-to-work systems (e.g., confined space entry, hot work permits) to ensure high-risk activities are carried out safely.
