Role & responsibilities

• Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:
  Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with construction activities. Ensure that all risks, including environmental, mechanical, electrical, and human factors, are evaluated and mitigated.

• Safety Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all construction activities adhere to local, national, and international safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, industry standards).Review and interpret safety codes, industry standards, and company policies to ensure compliance. Maintain proper documentation and records of safety inspections, audits, and incident reports.

• Development and Implementation of Safety Programs: Develop and implement safety programs and procedures specific to the construction site. Promote safety awareness among employees by organizing safety training sessions, drills, and meetings. Establish and enforce protocols for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use and other safety measures.

• Monitoring and Supervision: Monitor construction activities regularly to ensure adherence to safety protocols. Inspect machinery, equipment, and safety installations to confirm they are in safe working condition. Supervise and assist in emergency response drills and ensure the readiness of emergency response teams.

• Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, near-misses, and incidents to identify root causes. Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Liaise with authorities and stakeholders during and after an incident to ensure accurate documentation and communication.

• Safety Training and Awareness: Provide continuous training and safety orientation for all workers, including contractors and subcontractors. Ensure that all workers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and tools to work safely. Encourage a safety culture by promoting the reporting of unsafe conditions or practices without fear of retaliation.

• Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain site-specific emergency response plans. Ensure that evacuation plans, first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and other emergency equipment are easily accessible and well-maintained. Train workers to respond effectively to emergency situations, such as fire, gas leaks, or electrical hazards.

• Environmental Safety: Ensure that construction activities are in compliance with environmental regulations and minimize any negative impact on the environment. Implement practices for waste disposal, spill management, and pollution control.

• Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related concerns and report regularly to senior management about safety performance and risks. Communicate safety policies and procedures clearly to all personnel on site. Maintain records of all safety activities, including inspections, audits, and safety meetings.

• Continuous Improvement: Encourage the continuous improvement of safety practices and procedures. Participate in safety audits, and propose improvements to enhance safety performance. Stay up to date with industry safety trends and new regulatory changes.
